Singing for The Queen

BOYS and girls from Ickenham-based choir The Walbrook Singers sang in front of The Queen at the Commonwealth Day Observance Ceremony at Westminster Abbey this week.

The children joined a choir of 1,000 children to sing in the presence of The Queen, Prime Minister Tony Blair and other Commonwealth leaders on Monday.

The youngsters performed in the ceremony's finale, singing a piece based on a South African chant in five different Commonwealth languages, English, Urdu, Maori, Welsh and Caribbean Creole. The choir was invited to participate by the National Foundation for Youth Music which supported it last year with a grant.
